Dear Dr. Spivak,
I often wonder where a person such as you gets the demanding dedication to
your profession. You see countless strangers with countless problems who
are seeking your aid, you endeavor to help them and then send them on their
way possibly never hearing from them again. I, being one of those
strangers, seeked your assistance last August when I was unable to walk due
to lumbar stenosis.
I turned 69 this year and just returned from a trip to Bryce Canyon where I
went on an ATV to the back country, it was bumpy, dirty and thrilling.
After a beautiful and exhilarating ride the first thought I had was of you.
I turned to my husband and said "boy, if it were not for Dr. Spivak I would
have never been able to do this, he did some job operating on my back!" I
rode for three hours with nary an ache during or after.
I got to wondering how many of your ex-patients stop and take the time to
realize why they can once again enjoy life's little pleasures and take time
to say thank you as I have just done. I hope they do.
I want to take a moment to thank you for all you did to make my surgery a success! I am well over a month since the fusion was performed and I feel terrific and only better with each passing day.
Looking forward to starting physical therapy soon, have been back at work for almost three weeks, riding the subways even in rush hour and best of all standing and walking a great deal.
I am deeply grateful for all of your expertise, care, prayers and support. Thanks for helping me make a great leap forward.

I am so happy to let you and Dr Spivak know that in the past week, Nicole has taken a huge step forward in her recovery. On Thursday, for the first time in a long time, she told me that her back and leg no longer hurt her. She has resumed all activities, including exercising at the gym.
We all want to let you know how much we appreciated your kindness, understanding, concern and prompt action when we needed it. The business of medicine often gets in the way of the original reason many of us got into it, caring. It's really rewarding when someone like you, gets it. And when someone like Dr Spivak really is as good and kind as advertised.

Thank you. My life returns to normal. And filled with beautiful moments. Some of which are captured on film. This is my son Flynn and I going on his first flight that he can log as he was flying the plane a few minutes after this picture was taken. Again, thank you.

Just a quick note to say thank you for the wonderful care. I am so happy to be able to throw the football again with my son and wrestle with my 120 pound puppy!
Have a great weekend. Gratefully,
- Eileen S
I cannot thank you enough. I feel like I have experienced a miracle-surgery yesterday & sitting in my home today, free of the pain and able to walk without limping. Staff was exceptionally kind and helpful, but it is your 'golden hands' that have brought me back to living.
See you in a few weeks, and wishing you and yours a very Happy Healthy New Year.
- Harriet G
Doc, you and Susan and your staff are the kindest people in the world. I can't thank you enough. I felt like I was being taken care of by my own family. Thank you so much. I'm overwhelmed with appreciation.

Happy New Year! I just wanted to thank you so much. I feel so great. I was in so much pain for the last year. It was so nice to go shopping and be able to walk and stand in line.... the things we take for granted until we can’t do them. I knew from the moment we met that you were the surgeon who would operate on me. I felt so confident in your ability. And you were so patient in explaining everything to me. I was so scared and you helped me to relax and know that I was taking the right step to feel better. Thanks again. See you soon at the next follow-up appt.

Hey Doc....just wanted to let you know I played my first round of golf this week here in Florida. Not a twinge and I hit two birdies to boot. Turns out you really did help my golf game!
Great job. Thanks.
